26 things I’ve learnt over 26years!

I started doing this when I was 24 turning 25. Self reflection (applied) is a powerful tool.
I turned 26 on 13/03/2022 and they do say “another year older, another year wiser”.
So here is one year of wisdom I would like to share with you.
- Never depend on people for your joy.
- Honesty breeds growth.
- Surround yourself with people that you maintain a high standard with (we all have friends you can do anything around, limit your time with them).
- Don’t fight your true feelings, accept them, understand them and then work through them.
- Be patient, don’t rush. Everything has it’s time.
- Helping others is important, but do not build someone else’s dream and forget to build yours.
- Never change your self in accordance to other’s preferences. You will never be able to please ALL the differing opinions this world has to offer.
- Learn/practise trusting yourself by sticking to your word.
- As your income grows, do not give into lifestyle inflation. Give your self the chance to allow your savings to grow.
- Good company is everything, be around those who make you laugh especially during the tough times.
- If you care ask/communicate, seek answers. Do not leave room for assumptions.
- Delayed gratification is your friend. The quicker you learn that sacrificing short term pleasures for the long term goals is not so bad; the more you’ll enjoy and find it easier to make the short time sacrifices for your long term gains!
- You do not have to do everything at once. A little a day will get you to your goal.
- Stand firm in what you believe in, even if other’s don’t.
- Respect everyone. Humility is key.
- Being hype/defensive will not get you what you want. Creating fear will not get you respected.
- Cravings are like stray cats. If you keep feeding them they will never go away.
- Don’t wait for things to get worse before you sort them out.
- Never get comfortable.
- Know your worth.
- Communicate. Communicate when you are sure and when you are sure, communicate to gain clarity.
- As long as you are doing the work, your breakthrough will come.
- Believe in yourself, always.
- Be you. There is only one you and you should aspire to always be you and you only. Be proud of who you are.
- Write lists or create some sort of documentation of what you need to do, you’re more likely to get it done and stay on track.
- Sometimes the things that bring you peace, require difficult tasks. Although it may be difficult/tedious, it may even require you to come out of your comfort zone, knowing peace is at the end, means it is worth it.
- Bonus — take care of what you have, you don’t always need more.
Our life experiences our unique, but we all have lessons to learn — these are mine.
Here’s to life, growing in love, growing in faith, to wisdom and continuous self growth.
