I started doing this when I was 24 turning 25. Self reflection (applied) is a powerful tool.

I turned 26 on 13/03/2022 and they do say “another year older, another year wiser”.

So here is one year of wisdom I would like to share with you.

  1. Never depend on people for your joy.
  2. Honesty breeds growth.
  3. Surround yourself with people that you maintain a high standard with (we all have friends you can do anything around, limit your time with them).
  4. Don’t fight your true feelings, accept them, understand them and then work through them.
  5. Be patient, don’t rush. Everything has it’s time.
  6. Helping others is important, but do not build someone else’s dream and forget to build yours.
  7. Never change your self in accordance to other’s preferences. You will never be able to please ALL the differing opinions this world has to offer.
  8. Learn/practise trusting yourself by sticking to your word.
  9. As your income grows, do not give into lifestyle inflation. Give your self the chance to allow your savings to grow.
  10. Good company is everything, be around those who make you laugh especially during the tough times.
  11. If you care ask/communicate, seek answers. Do not leave room for assumptions.
  12. Delayed gratification is your friend. The quicker you learn that sacrificing short term pleasures for the long term goals is not so bad; the more you’ll enjoy and find it easier to make the short time sacrifices for your long term gains!
  13. You do not have to do everything at once. A little a day will get you to your goal.
  14. Stand firm in what you believe in, even if other’s don’t.
  15. Respect everyone. Humility is key.
  16. Being hype/defensive will not get you what you want. Creating fear will not get you respected.
  17. Cravings are like stray cats. If you keep feeding them they will never go away.
  18. Don’t wait for things to get worse before you sort them out.
  19. Never get comfortable.
  20. Know your worth.
  21. Communicate. Communicate when you are sure and when you are sure, communicate to gain clarity.
  22. As long as you are doing the work, your breakthrough will come.
  23. Believe in yourself, always.
  24. Be you. There is only one you and you should aspire to always be you and you only. Be proud of who you are.
  25. Write lists or create some sort of documentation of what you need to do, you’re more likely to get it done and stay on track.
  26. Sometimes the things that bring you peace, require difficult tasks. Although it may be difficult/tedious, it may even require you to come out of your comfort zone, knowing peace is at the end, means it is worth it.
  27. Bonus — take care of what you have, you don’t always need more.

Our life experiences our unique, but we all have lessons to learn — these are mine.

Here’s to life, growing in love, growing in faith, to wisdom and continuous self growth.
